The history of RIPT dates back to 1966 when it was established by the Government Council of Vietnam. In 1997, RIPT was emerged as a member of PTIT to attach the importance of science and technology to the university operation.
For over the past 50 years, RIPT has endeavoured to be the leading research institute in ICT sector to fulfill the function as:
- Study and propose the development strategies as well as national technical standards regarding ICT field;
- Research, invent, new ICT products, service and consult technical solutions;
- Measure, examine the quality of ICT equipment and system;
- Instruct PhD and master students of PTIT campuses.
Here are a number of recent nationally recognized achievements of PTIT
- State-level R&D project on ICT infratructure to serve the scientific and territory management in Central or Western Highlands provinces;
- Ministerial-level projects on building national standards in some areas of telecommunication, serving for State management. It includes RIPT/C system to prevent stolen billing in handset equipment and the project of testing and monitoring the quality of telecommunication services – TMNS and PSTN;
- Other consulting projects in the field of posts, telecommunication and information technology;
