Kick-off meeting of ASEAN IVO project entitled “Research and development on short distance communication and imaging for application in ASEAN region”

On July 28, 2016, the kick-off meeting of ASEAN IVO project entitled “Research and development on short distance communication and imaging for application in ASEAN region” was organized successfully at Novotel Ha Long Hotel, Ha Long, Quang Ninh. Attending the meeting were Dr. Vu Van San, President of PTIT and Dr. Tetsuya Kawanishi, Director of the Photonic Network Research Institute – NICT, together with other representatives from ASEAN institutes.

The ASEAN- IVO is an initiative of National Institute of Information and Communication Technology (NICT) aiming at promoting the research collaboration among ASEAN institutes to deal with social challenges in the region through ICT benefits.

On behalf of PTIT side, Dr. Vu Van San made a warmly welcome speech to all delegates and highly appreciate the support from NICT to the cooperation programs with PTIT. He also hoped that the project will gain the practical results and contribute to the sustainable development of the region.

At the meeting, the participants have discussed the current status of the project in each institute and collaboration activities including field trial test in the ASEAN region. This is a good starting point for closer cooperation among participating institutions in the future.
