Vietnamese team excellently surpassed 390 teams to achieve the silver adward of the 2021 Tech4Good contest

At the 2021 Tech4Good contest under the Seeds for the Future program of Huawei, Vietnamese Team VN01 with the Earlie project assisting the deaf in communication through virtual interpreter software, excellently won the silver adward in a total of 390 groups, in which 79 entries entered the final contest.

With the desire to create the equality for deaf people in all aspects, Vietnamese Team VN01 with members from Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) (Student Nguyen Quoc Hung), Da Nang University (student Dang Le Tuong Vy), Swinburne University of Technology (Student Nguyen Hoang Hai), University of Technology, Hanoi National University (Student Nguyen Viet Phuong) believe that the project can help remove barriers, building connections between deaf people and normal people in daily communication.

Nguyen Quoc Hung, PTIT student, the leader of Team VN01, shared that: “After participating in Huawei’s Tech4Good Global Program, we not only improve our ICT knowledge but also know how to apply new technology to society through business models and social applications. The contest also made me understand that as a programmer in the future and a young ICT resource of Vietnam, the capacity is a necessary factor, but the ability to recognize and evaluate difficult problems and urgent requirements in society to come up with practical solutions from technology is an equally important factor”.

The Seeds for the Future program was first launched in 2008 with the goal of developing ICT talents in the region, bridging the gap between countries, exchanging cultures and providing many research opportunities of updated ICT technologies, building participants’ expertise and practical skills.

The Tech4Good contest is a new project under the Seeds for the Future program, first implemented in 2021. At the contest, students need to recognize social issues and provide solutions based on their ICT capacity and trained contents throughout the program. Beside that, this competition is also designed to train and develop leadership and team building through the model of team activites and exams.
