HANOI – May 6 th 2016: The Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan had a meeting with Mr. Shin Jong Kyun, President & CEO of IT & Mobile Communication Div. of Samsung Headquarter. The President of PTIT, Dr. Vu Van San also participated in this important meeting.

At the meeting, the Minister pressed that Samsung is one of the leading foreign investors into Vietnam in the field of ICT. For over years, Samsung HQ and Samsung Vietnam in particular had obtained significant achievements. The Minister Truong Minh Tuan highly appreciated the cooperation between Samsung and technical universities in Vietnam and believed that those collaborative programs would continue to harvest more and more benefits in the future.

On this occasion, both sides discussed about the development and training of ICT human resources. Accordingly, CEO of Samsung HQ reported to the Minister about its sponsorship to reputated technical universites in Vietnam like Posts and Telecommunicatons Institute of Technology (PTIT), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and several other universities in Hanoi and Thai Nguyen Province. The cooperation frameworks include student scholarship, joint R&D in 4G LTE, laboratory sponshorship and so on.

At the meeting, the President of PTIT, Dr. Vu Van San commited to strengthening the cooperation between Samsung and PTIT to upgrade the advancements of Vietnam knowledge and create more R&D products and services for local and international market.

PTIT and Samsung signed an agreement on ICT education and research on June 20 th 2016.

For 2 years from 2014 to 2015, there are 40 scholarships for PTIT students with the value of 50 VND millions/student meanwhile a state-of- the-art laboratory has been equipped for PTIT students and lecturers.
