On 29th September 2022, PTIT delegation had a meeting and worked with Fraunhofer FOKUS in Germany.

The visit is within the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC)’s working program to Germany. In the meeting, from MIC, there were HE. Deputy Minister, Phan Tam, Dr. Vu Xuan Cong, Director of Department of Science and Technology, Dr. Tran Duy Hai, Deputy Director General, Directorate of Telecommunications, along with representatives from PTIT including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, President and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Huu Hanh, Director of Center for International Education. The delegation was welcomed by the hosts from Fraunhofer FOKUS including Prof. Dr. Manfred Hauswirth, Director, FOKUS/TU Berlin, Dr. Le Phuoc Danh, TU Berlin and FOKUS, Stefan Pham, FOKUS.


In the meeting, participants had discussions on new and modern technologies and research for the IR4.0 and Digital Transformation (DX), research cooperation on digital technologies for DX, PhD training possibilities and join-training programs between two institutions.

The next steps for the institutions were also identified as appointment of contacts points for following-up and outline of future cooperation activities including exchanging of professors, scientists, PhD students, detailing of joint research activities in digital technologies, detailing of PhD training and other joint training programs in digital technologies.


FOKUS, is an organization of the Fraunhofer Society. Headquartered in Berlin, the institute is engaged in applied research and development in the field of Information and Communications Technology. FOKUS conducts research on digital transformation and its impact on economics, technology, and our society. Since 1988, FOKUS has been supporting commercial enterprises and public administrations in the shaping and implementation of digital transformation. For this purpose, FOKUS offers research services ranging from requirements analysis to consulting, feasibility studies, technology development right up to prototypes and pilots in the business segments Digital Public Services, Future Applications and Media, Quality Engineering, Smart Mobility, Software-based Networks, Networked Security, Visual Computing und Analytics. With 460 employees in Berlin and an annual budget of 34,5 million euros, FOKUS is one of the largest ICT institutes of the Fraunhofer Society. More than 80 percent of its budget is generated through projects from industry and the public domain.
