On June 5th, 2024, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) participated in the “Fukuoka Investment Promotion Seminar” and Signing MOU to Support Startups with the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam,” held in Hanoi.

The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) led by Dr. Phan Tam, Deputy Minister; representatives from Fukuoka City led by Mr. Soichiro Takashima, Mayor of Fukuoka City, along with Japanese and Vietnamese associations and businesses. PTIT was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac – President. During the working sessions, representatives from PTIT and Fukuoka Institute of Technology (FIT) signed a cooperation agreement (MoU) in the field of human resource development.

In the context of an abundant young labor force, startup enterprises in Vietnam are increasing, especially in the information technology sector which has achieved remarkable growth. In recent years, Vietnamese information technology-related enterprises have been expanding their investments in Fukuoka City, with increasing interest in Vietnam. Startup enterprises in Fukuoka City are actively engaging with Vietnamese information technology-related enterprises and startups.

Embracing this trend, PTIT has signed an MoU with FIT on human resource development. Following the terms of the cooperation agreement, two parties have committed to engaging in a range of collaborative activities. These activities include exchange programs, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty and researchers. Along with that, the two institutions will collaborate on research activities, sharing expertise, and working on publications in areas of mutual interest. Remarkably, a specific agreement on student exchange has been signed, outlining the annual selection and sending of students to participate in study and practical programs at each other’s institution.

PTIT is one of the leading universities in information technology in Vietnam, also a pioneer in new training trends related to digital technology such as Information Technology, Telecommunications, Control Engineering and Automation, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering and Networks, Financial Technology, Data Engineering, E-commerce, Multimedia Communication, Game Design and Development…

In 2024, PTIT launched the Vietnam-Japan IT Engineer program to meet the high-quality human resource needs of the Japanese market. Students enrolled in this program will be equipped with knowledge and skills in accordance with the regulations and standards of Japanese ITSS IT Engineers. Upon graduation, in addition to the degree awarded by PTIT, students having Japanese language proficiency equivalent to N3 be supported in job placement at Japanese enterprises in Vietnam and Japan.

Fukuoka City has been designated by the Japanese Government as a national strategic special zone “Global Startup Hub” with the expectation of becoming a driving force to transform Japan into a powerful country of dreams. With this great expectation, Fukuoka City has made efforts to create advantages in terms of resources and business environment for new businesses to attract enterprises in the fields of information technology and communications, software development for automobiles, robotics/content production, semiconductor research and development, and many other areas to invest in Fukuoka, Japan.

Mayor Soichiro Takashima has noted that Vietnam is a significant hub for young and talented IT human resources as well as many outstanding IT companies. He specifically mentioned that several Vietnamese companies, including FPT, Rikkeisoft, and VMO, have expanded their businesses in Fukuoka. Furthermore, all of 17 Fukuoka companies attending the seminar have expressed their interest in collaborating with Vietnamese companies. They hoped that more companies will choose Fukuoka as a land of opportunities for growth and development.
