On August 6th, 2024, the Vietnam IT Day 2024 program took place in Japan under the theme “Vietnam – Comprehensive Information Technology Partner for the Sustainable Digital Economic Development of Japan.” The delegation from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology participated in the program and signed three cooperation agreements on research and training with their partners.

The Vietnam IT Day 2024 program was attended by Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, Mr. Pham Quang Hieu – Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Nomura Eigo – Director of the International Cooperation Division, Global Strategy Office, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) of Japan, and representatives of Vietnamese businesses operating in Japan. The delegation from the Institute, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong, Chairman of the Institute’s Council, participated in the program.

During the program, representatives from participating parties shared information about the results and development direction of Vietnam’s ICT industry, as well as the achievements of Vietnamese ICT companies in Japan and the implications for future development of businesses in both Vietnam and Japan. Discussions also covered policies, digital industry strategies, digital infrastructure, digital transformation for enterprises and society, and bilateral cooperation opportunities. Additionally, the Vietnam IT Day 2024 event witnessed the launch of the Vietnam-Japan Digital Transformation Association and the presentation of Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Information and Communications to outstanding Vietnamese digital technology companies with representative offices in Japan, such as FPT, CMC, VTI, LUVINA, RIKKEI SOFT, and KAOPIZ.

In the framework of Vietnam IT Day 2024 program, a signing ceremony of memorandums of understanding between Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) and Japanese educational institutions and companies took place. Specifically, PTIT and the University of Aizu signed an agreement to collaborate on implementing a 3+2 joint training program, where Aizu will confer degrees. PTIT also signed an agreement with AGest Company (Japan) to support training and internships in the field of Robotics and AI, as well as Information Technology in Japan for PTIT students. Additionally, PTIT and GAG Japanese Language Academy signed an agreement to cooperate on language and cultural training activities, as well as distance learning programs for the Vietnamese community in Japan.

The signing of these cooperation agreements between the institute and Japanese educational institutions and companies during the Vietnam IT Day 2024 program has opened up new prospects for collaboration in research activities, academic exchanges, and student exchanges between the institute and Japanese partners. It also contributes to connecting the Vietnamese and Japanese business communities.

It is known that Vietnam is considered the second priority partner in the field of information technology by Japan. The collaboration in developing human resources to meet the needs of businesses is always of mutual interest to both countries. The Vietnam IT Day 2024 program is one of the three important annual promotion programs that connect businesses from both countries, organized by the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), the Japan Information Technology Services Industry Association (JISA), and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) under the patronage of the Ministry of Information and Communications.
