Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology opens joint education office at Seoul Cyber University (Korea)

On August 1, 2024, in Seoul, Korea, the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) officially opened a Joint Education Office at Seoul Cyber University (SCU). The Minister of Information and Communications, H.E. Nguyen Manh Hung, witnessed and congratulated the effective cooperation between PTIT and SCU.
The program was also attended by leaders of departments and divisions under the Ministry of Information and Communications, leading technology enterprises of Vietnam (Viettel, VNPT, CMC, VTC, and HTC); Associate Professor Dr. Eun-Joo Lee – President of SCU, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, President of PTIT and representatives of departments of the two universities, representatives of the Vietnamese Student Association in Korea, representatives of the Vietnamese community in 7 provinces of Korea: North Chungcheong, South Chungcheong, Gyeonggi, North Gyeongsang, South Gyeongsang, Jeju, and South Jeolla.

In December 2023, PTIT and SCU signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in academic and vocational education programs, special short-term academic and language programs, exchange of lecturers, e-learning experts and/or students, cooperation in research and professional activities. In particular, the two universities committed to cooperate to open a joint training program in the field of Information Technology with application orientation and dual degrees from Vietnamese and Korean universities. After more than half a year of discussion and implementation of procedures, on August 1, 2024, PTIT officially opened the Joint Education Office at SCU to establish a connection point, promoting joint training activities in the Applied Information Technology industry of PTIT according to the digital university model in Korea, aiming to train and provide highly skilled human resources, meeting the needs of organizations, businesses and society immediately after graduation, especially for both Vietnamese and Korean enterprises. Graduates will have sufficient knowledge, expertise, professional skills, teamwork ability and adaptability to different working environments, be able to self-study, improve knowledge, master and comply with advances in technology related to Software Engineering and Information Systems. Moreover, students will meet the requirements of foreign language (Korean) and have a deep understanding of Korean culture, and can work at Korean companies. According to the program, students will study for 2 years at PTIT and 2 years at SCU with specific training program of each university.
In addition to the joint training program between PTIT and SCU for students in Vietnam, the joint program also targets the Vietnamese community working and studying in Korea to provide learners with the best quality training and support issues related to visas, accommodation, and employment during and after studying under this program.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, H.E. Minister Nguyen Manh Hung highly appreciated the joint training cooperation model between PTIT and SCU as a typical example of digital university development. This is a meaningful program for the community and for overseas Vietnamese in Korea. The Minister emphasized that the digital university model of SCU is advanced and a model for Vietnamese universities to learn from in organizing training, operating and producing teaching-learning content according to the digital university model. The stone slab with the name of the PTIT-SCU Joint Education Office located at SCU campus is a symbol affirming the determination of the two universities in implementing the joint training program according to the digital university model using a modern e-learning system integrating digital technology and AI. The two universities need to speed up the progress, increase investment, and expand this advanced digital university model.
Receiving and responding to the direction of the Minister, the President of PTIT and the President of SCU affirmed that they will be determined to implement to soon have the first students of the Joint Training program in the fall semester of the 2024 – 2025 school year.
It is known that SCU (서울사이버대학교) is one of the 40 best universities in Seoul. SCU is the best and first online university in Korea.
