On August 20, 2020, in Hanoi, the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) and Naver Corporation (Naver) signed a memorandum of understanding for the implementation of the project “Building a Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research and Development Belt.” This is a project conducted by Naver Technology Corporation to exchange technology and train talents in AI between Korea, Japan, France and Vietnam. The project will invite scholars and researchers from leading universities, startups and labs across borders to exchange knowledge and cooperate on the development of AI technologies.

The ceremony received the attendance from Mr. Park Dong Jin, Director of Naver in charge of the Asia-Pacific region and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, PTIT Vice President.

According to the signed memorandum of understanding, the two sides will deploy cooperation contents in the organization of courses for students including training on Embedded, IoT, AI, Big Data, Blockchain, Data; Organize exchange programs for students and faculty. Accordingly, Vietnamese students and faculties will have the opportunity to participate in exchange activities organized by Naver; Transfer and apply Naver’s strong technologies, products and services; Develop new curriculum and international training programs; Scholarships for outstanding students in the AI field; Conduct joint research projects between Naver and PTIT.

Naver is committed to set up joint research labs at PTIT and will also work on course curriculum so that PTIT students can learn from top industry experts. The best students will be sent to research centers in South Korean and Europe on scholarships and internships. It will support PTIT researchers, lecturers and students to expand their knowledge through international seminars and exchange programs on AI technologies.

Giving his speech at the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, Vice President of PTIT, emphasized: “We have a very strong impression on the strategy of “The Global Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Belt ” of Naver. Research groups of PTIT are also very excited about the opportunity to have research cooperation with Korea’s No. 1 technology corporation. Many research areas that Naver is interested in are also the main focus of PTIT’s research labs, especially Multimedia and Machine Learning and Applications. We are very grateful that Naver agrees to cooperate and is willing to share core technology for information technology development in Vietnam ”.
