Webometrics has recently announced the first annual ranking of 2017, which featured the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) honourably standing among top 15 universities of Vietnam.
Webometrics ranked the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology ranked 4,178th worldwide, 4 ranks higher than the position in January 2017 rankings.
PTIT was ranked 14th nationwide. Thus, it has gain two levels up from the rank in January 2017 and 5 levels up from the rank in July 2016. Remarkably, the index of presence has increased by 1,289 ranks (from 5.772 up to 4.483).
Webometrics is the world’s largest academic rankings of universities conducted by the Spanish National Research Council since 2004. On annual basis in January and July Webometrics comes up with two rankings for universities around the world based on the website parameters of educational institutions. The key purpose is to support Open Access Initiatives for improved access to information about scientific research and academic literature electronically published. That is why the chart lets alone website design or number of hits.
Undergoing various alterations, on January 1, 2017, Webometrics ended up disclosing a set of 4 ranking criteria: Presence – the number of sub-sites stored on the university’s system that are identified by Google; Impact – the number of backlinks from other websites to the university’s website; Openness – the number of citations of scientific works on Google Scholar data sources; Excellence – top 10% cited articles published by the university’s academics on scientific journals that are in Scopus list.
